OCI is a subsidiary of Pioneer Pacific College, independent and locally-owned. Founded by two partners who have been part of the Portland food scene for over 25 years, OCI was designed as a culinary institute that puts students first.

Our knowledgeable and experienced chef instructors are committed to student success, and teach skills that graduates will actually use in their careers. You will be an active participant in your education, in both classrooms and labs. And you'll have the opportunity to work in our own student-operated fine-dining restaurant. The experience is well rounded and designed to result in graduates who possess the confidence they need to enter the workforce successfully.
Beyond skills training, we focus on a fresh farm-to-table approach to cooking, while teaching food ethics and the business of owning and operating a restaurant in today’s world of sustainable responsibility and practice. It’s a curriculum not often taught, but one we believe to be invaluable.
